Absolutely not. Versoworks is vehemently against malware in all of its forms. Speckie has also been independently tested by

Where does the name Speckie come from ?
The name is a combination of parts of the words Spell Check for Internet Explorer.
Does Speckie use a lot of resources ?
No. In fact, if you look at IE's Manage Add-ons section, you'll see Speckie has an average start-up time of 5ms or less !
Which programming language is Speckie written in ?
Speckie is written in the C++ programming language. It uses the ATL library as recommended by Microsoft when creating add-ons for IE.
Which spell check library does Speckie use ?
Speckie uses the Hunspell library. Hunspell is used in Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Mac OS X.
Speckie isn't working with pinned sites ?
By design, IE does not load toolbars or extensions like Speckie on pinned sites for security reasons.
Can you add a dictionary please ?
The dictionaries used by Speckie are created by Google and others and are freely usable by third parties like us. If there's a language we're missing, contact us and we'll look at the possibility of adding it.
